Who We Are: The Aliveness Project is a community center for people living with HIV. We serve over 5,000 individuals living with and at risk of HIV. The Aliveness Project boldly advances equitable access to transformative HIV care and prevention. Our primary objectives are to ensure that our members have access to:
- Basic needs: We provide meals, a food shelf, and medical nutrition therapy while our Case Management team helps provide access to healthcare and housing.
- Community: Our community center model provides a safe and supportive place for members to gather and build community.
- Prevention: We provide community based free PrEP/STD Clinic, pharmacy, and targeted outreach to communities disproportionately affected by HIV through education, awareness, and strategies for eliminating stigma.

Position Title: Director of Human Resources and Operations
Reports to: Executive Director
Position Summary: The Development Administrative Specialist plays an important role by providing administrative support to the Development Department and participating in all fundraising activities including donor relations, direct mail appeals, in-kind donations and special events. Significant emphasis on maintaining the agency’s donor database and will also be responsible at Front Desk tasks for a minimum of 10 hours per week.
Position responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Ensure all donations are entered into our fundraising database timely and accurate manner
- Print and mail acknowledgement letters for all donations
- Maintain and improve data in Salesforce
- Work with Director of Development, Executive Director, and Development Manager to make donor thank you calls
- Work with the External Relations team to create and implement comprehensive development plans and strategies
- Support community events, especially Holiday Gift Program, Dining Out For Life, Annual Cookout and Red Undie Run.
- Staff the Front Desk from 2 – 4 pm each day welcoming members and visitors, answering phones, scheduling appointments, and providing resources
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of 1 year of work experience in nonprofit and/or administration.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with a variety of people
- Interest in and energy for volunteerism and community building
- Skilled at building interpersonal relationships, to work effectively as part of a team, and to manage volunteers
- Competency with a variety of computer software programs, including databases
- Ability to work effectively in a deadline-driven environment, exceptional attention to detail, and positive and team-based approach to work
- Commitment to HIV/AIDS community, racial justice, gender justice, LGBTQ equity, trans
equity, and sexual health care and education
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong experience in data management
- Familiar with Salesforce (or similar database)
- Comfortable with leading community outreach activities.
- Able to react to change productively and to handle other tasks as assigned
Reporting Relationship
This position reports to the Director of Development.
Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday – Friday. Hours may include evening and weekend hours.
Salary: Salary range is $40,000 - $45,000 depending on experience. Benefits include health insurance, holidays and Paid Time Off (PTO) and 3% employer matched 401K.
